Ian Lane

WINNER: Comedy Virgins Max Turner Prize 2013
WINNER: Laughing Horse Brighton Fringe New Act Competition 2013

A performer once described by Broadway Baby as both "sharp” and "likeable enough”, Ian is on a mission to capitalise on this potent combination of wit and criteria-meeting affability with a set that draws upon absurdist autobiography, obtuse one-liners and Post-It note poems, all delivered with "a general disdain for modern living” (The Goodfather Comedy).

A London-based comic, he has won two annual new act competitions (Max Turner Prize and Laughing Horse Brighton Fringe, both in 2013), beaten the gong at the Comedy Store’s ‘King Gong night and The Blackout at Up The Creek, and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra in the heats for the BBC Radio New Comedy Award two years in a row (2014 and 2013).

Promoters and clubs that he has gigged for include Glee Club (Birmingham and Cardiff), Mirth Control, Crack Comedy, Backyard Comedy Club, Comedy Knights, Hot Water, Oi Oi Comedy, Joke Klub, Comedy Cafe and Downstairs At The King's Head. In the upcoming months, you can see him at Komedia Brighton (Comic Boom), Funhouse Comedy (10 spot) and Pulp Comedy (paid opening 20).

"Ian Lane is an exciting new comedian doing inventive, unique routines which sync perfectly with his logical and methodical voice. I've seen him charm tame audiences with his tightly scripted flights of fancy and tackle rowdy rooms with the confident sea legs of someone who clearly lives to gig. He is an irresistibly bookable alternative comedian." Bobby Carroll, Comedy Knights

"In a sea of identikit new comics, Ian Lane is a breath of fresh air, inventive, un-formulaic, interesting and funny - we can't wait to watch him bloom." - James Bran, Crack Comedy

"His signature, physically-demanding closing bit was a joy to behold, transubstantiating the house red of screentop mundanity into the blood of comedy Christ." - Fat Controller Comedy
